evaluation.

Screen printing is something that have become very content with, and I every time I use the medium I fall more in love with the process so naturally I wanted to learn new technique’s. I wanted to work with screen-printing to create a collection of work I could use in a collective manner.
When choosing artist to collaborate with it was only natural I wanted to work with people I had before, I decided to collaborate with a group of artists and contacts I had made in the past few years. The first and most obvious artist was Peter Kent, a graphic designer whom I met while studying a foundation; together we started ump, which made relations with many artists, musicians and friends. The second an illustrator called Simon Moody, I met Simon after receiving an order to print bags and shirts for a band called iwasacubscout, Simon did the artwork from them so it was only right we made a relationship in order for the products to be the best they could. The third, another illustrator called Pat Bradbury, I met pat in the first year of my degree the relation hit off right away with the same influences, I got pat to do an illustration for the band data.select.party which they bought and had printed right away by myself. From these collaborations I hoped to gain organisation, illustration, and graphic skills.
While working with my artists although I kept in contact and had close relations to them I realised that I shouldn’t have relied on them to produce work for me with in a short turn around, with all the artist having jobs and doing degrees I realised very last minute that I didn’t take into account that they would have there own projects to be working on at the same time.
I think my project had a lot of potential that I didn’t fulfil, If I was more organised I could have turned the illustrations my artists did for me into final products, I’m disappointed I didn’t have the chance to do this, but feel I will always carry on this project with the other artists.
I enjoyed learning about screen printing detailed art work and think it helped me produce some great looking work, learning about halftones made the potential of this advanced technique have so much potential and help me excel in this process which I will continue to use.
Over all I am happy with the progress I made in this project, however I just wish I had longer to make more of the information I gathered.
